"Heavy casualties reported on J1 clashes in Juba”, sounded a news headline on Friday, July 8, 2016. It was a caption accompanying an article informing the world about the death and destruction that had occurred at the Presidential Palace in Juba, South Sudan on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the country’s much celebrated independence from a predominantly Arab and Muslim Northern Sudan.
After decades of a troubled relationship between a predominantly Christian Black African Southern Sudan and a predominantly Arab and Muslim Northern Sudan, war erupted between the two parts of Sudan in 1955. Supporters of the entire Sudan as an Islamic state based on strict Shari’a proclaimed Jihad against Christians in Southern Sudan. Dubbed the First Sudanese Civil War also known as the Anyanya Rebellion or Anyanya 1, this war morphed into an element of the Arab Israeli Conflict when Israel took the side of the Southern Sudanese Black African Christians and began supplying them with weapons. The first war ended with the signing of a peace agreement on February 27th, 1972. In 1983, war erupted again between the two parts of Sudan. Dubbed the Second Sudanese Civil War, the second war was waged by the Sudan People’s Liberation Army also known as the SPLA. Purporting to free Southern Sudanese from a continuation of the issues that caused the First Sudanese Civil War in 1955, the Sudan People’s Liberation Army is alleged to have murdered, raped, robbed, looted, and committed the most abhorrent forms of cruelty and human rights violations against the very Southern Sudanese they purported to be fighting to free (CONTINUED BELOW).
CELEBRATING INDEPENDENCE FROM NORTHERN SUDAN
After over half a century of war between Northern Sudan and Southern Sudan and a Referendum held from January 9, 2011, to January 15, 2011, Southern Sudan finally won the right to self-determination and became the independent Republic of South Sudan on Saturday, July 9, 2011. However, the celebratory mood and high hopes held by South Sudanese on the day of independence would soon be dashed when an internal conflict within the ruling Sudan People's Liberation Party ignited another war on December 15, 2013, beginning with a false allegation of a coup by the incumbent President Salva Kiir Mayardit, a Dinka by tribe. He alleged that his former Vice President Riek Machar, a Nuer by tribe attempted to take over the government from him by force. Following the false allegation, all South Sudanese from the Nuer tribe were targeted for genocide for no other reason than belonging to the same tribe as Riek Machar. It was genocide of the same magnitude as the Rwandan genocide of 1994 (CONTINUED BELOW).

A Dinka affiliated militia group allegedly recruited by General Paul Malong Awan Anei also a Dinka by tribe was held solely responsible for the genocide committed against South Sudanese from the Nuer tribe beginning on December 15, 2013. The militia group, which is known as Mathiang Anyoor, also spelled Mathiang Anyur is reported to have been formed as a militia of South Sudanese from the Dinka tribe, for the primary purpose of protecting President Salva Kiir Mayardit and General Paul Malong Awan Anei himself. Mathiang Anyoor is said to mean "Brown caterpillar" in the Dinka language and the group is also known as Dot Ke Beny (meaning "Rescue the President" in Dinka). Following the genocide against South Sudanese from the Nuer tribe, the SPLM/SPLA reverted to a full-blown civil war with two main factions taking up arms against each other namely the SPLM/SPLA in government dominated by Kiir and General Malong's Dinka tribe and the SPLM/SPLA in opposition dominated by Machar's Nuer tribe.
Since December 15, 2013, a war has raged on in South Sudan leading to more genocide, mass murder, the displacement of millions of innocent civilians, the most abhorrent forms of human rights violations, unprecedented cruelty including but not limited to the castration of male children, the gang rape of women, beheadings and various forms of crimes against humanity as partially documented in a report commissioned by the African Union titled AFRICAN UNION COMMISSION OF INQUIRY ON SOUTH SUDAN and elsewhere (CONTINUED BELOW).
MATHIANG ANYOOR
After 21 months of bloodshed and total anarchy, a purported “agreement” that would be disqualified in all reputable courts of law was forced on the belligerents under duress, in August 2015. The bohemian “agreement” dubbed “THE AUGUST 2015 AGREEMENT ON THE RESOLUTION OF THE CONFLICT IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN (ARCISS)” was purportedly guaranteed by the African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), a multinational body founded in 1986 by the African countries of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, and Kenya, with a focus on development and environmental control. The so-called agreement was witnessed by the People’s Republic of China, the Kingdom of Norway, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the United Nations, the European Union and the IGAD Partners Forum (IPF) which comprises of Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Japan, India, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Russian Federation, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America, the European Union and the League of Arab States. However, the fore mentioned establishments along with the witnesses knew or ought to have known that the so-called “agreement” was bogus because it did not even pass the most basic test of a legally binding agreement. Moreover, the citizens of South Sudan were not involved in the negotiation of this purported agreement in spite of the fact that they have the ultimate legal authority to decide what should happen in their country as was the case when they were the ones who had to decide whether Southern Sudan should secede from Sudan through a Referendum.

Despite the so-called “agreement” dubbed “THE AUGUST 2015 AGREEMENT ON THE RESOLUTION OF THE CONFLICT IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN (ARCISS)” the war in South Sudan continued with more intensity, causing additional unimaginable suffering to the ordinary people of South Sudan. Hideous killings and gang rape based on the tribe an individual belongs to became endless. Then the war morphed into alleged state sponsored genocide against all the other tribes of South Sudan and not just Machar's Nuer tribe. Lawlessness unseen in modern times continues unabated (CONTINUED BELOW).

In April 2016, Riek Machar was forced to return to a fully militarized Juba by the so-called guarantors of the purported agreement where a plot was allegedly being actively hatched to kill him in full view of the purported guarantors and the whole world (CONTINUED BELOW).

Having eventually succumbed to the pressure represented in an article titled “IGAD, Troika insist Machar return by Saturday” and returned to a still heavily militarized Juba in April 2016, Riek Machar attempted to participate in the implementation of the farce called an "agreement". However, to the mortification of his supporters and well-wishers, their blazing allegations of collusion between the government of South Sudan, the guarantors, and witnesses to the purported "PEACE AGREEMENT" came to pass because gunfire erupted on Friday, July 8, 2016, on the eve of the fifth anniversary of the country’s much celebrated Independence as announced in a number of articles. Details of the reprehensible attack would soon emerge putting the blame squarely on incumbent president Salva Kiir Mayardit and his cohorts. Articles titled South Sudan’s top leadership ordered recent fighting in Juba: UN report and UN panel blames Kiir and Malong for Juba violence were deemed conclusive.
The purported "AUGUST 2015 AGREEMENT ON THE RESOLUTION OF THE CONFLICT IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN (ARCISS)" was so precarious that the firefight that occurred on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Presidential Palace in Juba, South Sudan as the so-called agreement was purportedly in the process of being implemented was totally predictable. Like the genocide allegedly committed against Nuer people in December 2013 by the Dinka affiliated militia group allegedly recruited by General Paul Malong Awan Anei, the Friday, July 8, 2016, firefight is also alleged to have been instigated by General Paul Malong Awan Anei.
Following the blatant but predictable violation of THE PURPORTED “AGREEMENT” ON THE RESOLUTION OF THE CONFLICT IN THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH SUDAN (ARCISS), the so-called “agreement” collapsed after Friday, July 8, 2016 and the war increased in intensity with the rest of the tribes of South Sudan continuing to be targeted for genocide. Lawlessness unseen in modern times continued to engulf the world's youngest country and Riek Machar was forced to flee for his life. He fled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo with government forces in hot pursuit. After this predictable event, another unprecedented massacre ensued in South Sudan, and it continues to this day in plain view of the entire world (CONTINUED BELOW).
In 2017, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the multinational body founded in 1986 by the African countries of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, and Kenya, with a focus on development and environmental control revived the peacemaking process for South Sudan. The peace talks were eventually transferred from Addis Ababa to Khartoum for completion under the supervision of President Omar al-Bashir, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity. In Khartoum, groups opposed to the genocidal government of Salva Kiir were threatened with deportation to South Sudan and forced to agree to another so-called “agreement” under duress. These groups also complained of overt high-handedness by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the purported mediators. Many of the groups signed another so-called agreement on September 12, 2018, under duress.
SOUTH SUDAN FAILED AS A STATE
In the year 2021, exactly ten years after Southern Sudan finally won the right to self-determination and became the independent Republic of South Sudan on Saturday, July 9, 2011, the new country irrefutably failed as a state. It descended into unprecedented anarchy with members of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army using rape as a weapon of war, destroying, and burning everything in their path. Ten years after becoming the independent Republic of South Sudan on Saturday, July 9, 2011, South Sudan became a global security threat and a highly likely location for planning terror attacks because of its proximity to pockets of determined diehard Jihadists groomed by Osama Bin Laden the former leader of Al-Qaeda when he lived in Sudan between 1992 and 1996. While there, he used his millions to organize Al-Qaeda training camps, wage global Jihad, sponsor terror attacks around the world and uninhibitedly support Sudanese Jihadists fighting the Sudan People’s Liberation Army. In 1996, he became a “persona non grata” (Latin for “an unwelcome person”) in Sudan and the rest of the Arab World because they do not condone his version of Jihad. He relocated to Afghanistan which had failed as a state and began master minding the horrendous September 11, 2(001, attack on the United States of America.
DUPED BY LUCIFER: THE STORY OF SOUTH SUDAN SERIES BY MARGARET AKULIA
“DUPED BY LUCIFER: THE STORY OF SOUTH SUDAN” is the abbreviated story of South Sudan offering contemporary content as well as an abridged history which starts in Egypt, a country that played a significant role in the formation of Sudan and South Sudan. The series doubles as a virtual conference and culminates in ordinary South Sudanese collaborating with various armed and unarmed groups to rescue their collapsing country themselves. Partial proceeds from the series are used for alleviating suffering arising from war related sexual violence and segments are added to the series as the South Sudan story unravels. The title of the series stems from the fact that many members of the Sudan People's Liberation Army duped the entire world when they presented themselves as angels of light and liberators fighting for the right to practice Christianity in a predominantly Muslim Sudan among other rights but turned out to be criminals, disciples and agents of Lucifer, another name for Satan.
